Historic Ballarat combines the best of country and city living in a remarkable setting. Ballarat is large enough and far enough from Metropolitan Melbourne to retain its own distinctive provincial flavour and identity, yet it is located within easy commuting distance from Melbourne’s central business district.

Ballarat provides a verdant living environment that is noted for its beauty and green spaces. Home to 84,000 people, Ballarat offers a wide array of attractions including parks, public gardens and lakes - which are ideal for picnics and relaxation.
The streetscapes are more than attractive, offering splendid examples of Victorian architecture.

The gold boom of the 1850s left a legacy of wide roads that make getting around a breeze. Safe streets, 24-hour taxi services and a comprehensive public transport system also help take the worry out of travelling

During the September 2005 quarter, the median house price in Ballarat increased by 6.6% from $198,000 to $211,000. This also represents an overall increase of 8.2% from the September 2004 quarter median price of $195,000.
